The udu (pronounced 'oodoo') is shaped from clay, gifting it with its highly characteristic percussive sound. Here, German percussion giants, Schlagwerk give their own rendition of an instrument that originated in Nigeria and is still played during ceremonies by the Igbo tribe, where 'udu' literally means 'pot'.
